首尔大学GSIS课程
学校简介
This program is administered using the following basic educational methods and expectations:
First, courses are presented through weekly lectures, with evening lectures offered when necessary. Korean or international specialists experienced in specific areas are invited to address students in concentrated courses
Second, the school invites eminent international scholars to conduct classes in their native languages. Courses are co-taught by a variety of specialists and/or scholars through a team teaching approach that explores theories or practices from a variety of perspectives.
Third, the program offers students comprehensive training so that they may engage in the real world, and apply their education immediately after their graduation. To obtain this objective, the courses offered in the program push students beyond a theoretical groundwork, and demand application of theory to actual situations.
Fourth, each course consists of a combination of lectures, student presentations and discussions on students' papers. Courses put great emphasis on student papers to give students the opportunity to come up with their own topics of study, to read widely on those topics, and to conduct independent research in depth. Grades are based on examinations that test students' understanding of the lectures and on students' papers and presentations.
Also, GSIS provides new students with the basic knowledge they need to begin their regular curriculum in International Commerce, International Cooperation, or International Area Studies. Each year new students are offered special lectures in economics and international relations. Special lectures on economics and international relations are also offered during the winter interim for new students enrolled in the International Commerce and International Cooperation Programs, who may lack a background in economics and international relations. These lectures are also open to interested International Area Studies major.
